EFIX: OSX se hace comercial?

La web efi-x.com, última vez actualizada el 9 de Junio, asegura ofrecer un producto que posibilita la instalación de Leopard en cualquier PC. Sin hacks, y utilizando el mismo DVD que utilizaría cualquier mac para instalar Leopard.

Veamos lo que dice la web:

EFiX is the best solution for installing and using Mac OS X on your PC.
It allows its user to install Mac OS X straight from the original DVD without having to worry about patches,
replacing files and anything like that.
That means you can buy a regular PC, Mac OS X and EFiX and enjoy what the Mac users have always enjoyed:
unmodified Mac OS X on your computer, safe, easy and fast, exactly the way it should be.

The development of EFiX took a lot of time.
During the development phase, we had to deal with various problems, including sabotage.
This process also involved testing, which has been conducted for the last 6 months in production environments.
Industry leading professionals(who work for TV stations, recording studios and many others) rely on EFiX and Mac OS X running on standard PC hardware to get their tasks done.

EFiX is in the final testing phase.
All the testing has went far better than what we expected and the testers have given positive feedback.

El famoso netkas nos cuenta en este post que recibió un dispositivo funcional de parte de la gente del sitio en cuestión, y que al probarlo, tuvo éxito. En el post nos habla de un dispositivo USB que se conecta a la hora de bootear OSX. Funcionaría inyectando los EFI strings, del mismo modo que actualmente funcionan los NVInject o ATInject (inyectadores de EFI strings para placas de video)

Como el 23 de Junio está cerca, hay ciertas preguntas todavía sin responder y que no quedan del todo claras.

  • EFIX es sólo un emulador más, tal como PC_EFI ?
  • Se necesita el dispositivo USB cada vez que booteamos el sistema?
  • Mientras que el dispositivo USB permite la instalación del SO, cómo será arreglado el tema de los drivers?
  • Cómo responderá Apple a esto?
